Australian Driving Holidays

Australian Driving Holidays

Over the last ten years in Australia driving holidays have been on the decline. There are a number of factors contributing to an overall reduction in domestic travel, including the fact that younger Australians are now more inclined to save their money for overseas trips. Also, younger Australians have been taking fewer weekend trips, and when they do travel domestically they are more likely to fly.

Since the Australian dollar is currently above parity with the US dollar, overseas travel has become more appealing then at any time in recent history. Discount domestic airfares have also made flying a more attractive option for local trips. The global financial crisis and petrol costs going through the roof have meant that some people are foregoing travel of any sort, and the recent floods and cyclones in Queensland have had a significant impact on travel in that region.
